Access to Justice Conference Scholarships

The 2019 Access to Justice Conference has reached capacity and we are no longer accepting scholarship applications.

General Information

The Access to Justice Conference is a biennial gathering of community members, advocates, judges, attorneys, leaders, funders, and policymakers across Washington State. The goals of the Conference are to provide inspiration, to create and deepen partnerships, and to jumpstart innovative strategies that advance equity and justice.

The 2019 Access to Justice Conference theme is “Amplifying the Power of Community.” While law and justice advocates contribute critical knowledge and expertise, we seek lasting, transformational change that can only occur with perspective, guidance, and direction from those who are most directly affected by the systems in need of changing.  Everyone who needs a scholarship should apply and those outside of legal community are encouraged to apply.

Available Financial Assistance

Thanks to the generosity of our conference sponsors, we are able to offer a limited number of scholarships which supports the participation of those who would not otherwise be able to attend.

Scholarships are available for the full conference registration fee (your cost would be $0) or a partial registration fee (your cost would be $125). We also have a limited amount of funds to assist with travel and will prioritize individuals with the greatest need.

Scholarship Considerations

Scholarships are intended for attendees whose participation is not subsidized by their employers or other means.  Scholarships will be provided based on availability of funding and an evaluation of the following criteria:

• Employer is unable to cover all or part of the conference expenses.
• Does not have the personal resources to cover all or part of the conference expenses.
• Participating in the conference programs will be beneficial for the applicant’s paid or volunteer equity and justice work.
• Networking with other conference participants will beneficial for the applicant’s paid or volunteer equity and justice work.
• Will be in attendance for the entire conference.
