This WA State Supreme Court order authorizes the Access to Board to be administered by the Washington State Bar Association and charges the ATJ Board with the responsibility to achieve equal access to the civil justice system for those facing economic and other significant barriers.
In carrying out the Supreme Court Order Reauthorizing the Access to Justice Board, these Operational Rules guide the policies and procedures for the Board and its committees.
The Hallmarks are the unifying set of visions and values that guide the Alliance as we work to expand meaningful access to the civil justice system and to identify and eliminate barriers that deny justice and perpetuate poverty.
Justice involves the determination and realization of legal needs, rights and responsibilities and the fair resolution of disputes. Access to justice is based on these following principles and goals.
The State Plan guides the collective efforts of the Alliance in order to expand access to the justice system and identify and eliminate barriers that perpetuate poverty and deny justice.
This report summarizes the finding of the 2015 Washington Civil Legal Needs Study Update, a rigorous assessment of the unmet civil legal needs of low-income families in Washington State.
The ATJ Board has adopted these Performance Standards for Legal Aid in the State of Washington to serve as guidelines for the operation and performance of civil legal aid organizations in Washington State.
This memorandum suggests various way in which 1) the content of the Performance Standards for Legal Aid in the State of Washington might become better known; 2) how they might be used, and 3) how the Access to Justice Board might encourage their implementation.
The Washington Statewide Pro Bono Council has adopted the American Bar Association's Best Practices for Programs Providing Civil Pro Bono Services to Person of Limited Means for reference and use by Washington's pro bono programs. These standards should be read as complimentary to the Performance Standards for Legal Aid in the State of Washington.
The ATJ Board Communication Plan is a three-part plan to communicate about the work of the ATJ Board, facilitate Alliance for Equal Justice intercommunication, and support the Alliance for Equal Justice in communicating with the public.
The Access to Justice Board Collaboration Principles strives to improve coordination among providers, improve the delivery of services to eligible client communities, and helps to better leverage scarce resources.
These Access to Justice Technology Principles state the governing values and principles which shall guide the use of technology in the Washington State justice system. The Principles were updated in 2020.
This WA State Supreme Court order ensures that the ATJ Technology Principles, updated in 2020, will be considered with other governing law and court rules in deciding the appropriate use of technology in the administration of the courts.
Adopted in 2011, this guide helps state administrative agencies comply with the law and ensure equitable access for people with disabilities in administrative proceedings.
